CREW WEEK: Intro to Saving Seeds

Thursday, September 266:00—7:00 PMReference RoomManchester-by-the-Sea Public Library15 Union Street, Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, 01944

Saving seeds from the plants around us connects us to our roots as ecosystem stewards and challenges us to plan for the next generation. Being a seed steward can be both simple and immensely complex so let's start digging into the details. We will discuss basic plant and seed physiology of several familiar garden plants, explore which plants might be the best to start with, best storage practices and germination testing. We will have some hands-on demonstration of winnowing techniques and seeds to share.

About the Presenter: Doug Cook (He/Him, They/Them) manages the plant nursery and adaptive grazing of sheep at Lillooet Farm in Boxford, MA as well as being a Northeast Organic Farmers Association Massachusetts board member.
