TAKE THE ZERO WASTE CHALLENGE!!

Did you know that the average person throws out approximately 5 pounds of trash a day? The Manchester-by-the-Sea Sustainability Committee and the Manchester Public Library invite you to join us for the 2024 Zero Waste Challenge

Saturday, September 21 - Friday, September 27

Step 1:  Sign up below.

You will be given instructions on how to participate in the challenge. All Manchester families and individuals are eligible.

Step 2:  On Saturday, September 21 start sorting your household waste into Compost, Recycle, Repurpose, and Reuse in your home. Put anything that can’t be reused, recycled or composted into an orange trash bag.

Step 3:  On Friday, September 27 at 3 PM bring your trash bag to the Sustainability Committee table at the library to have your trash weighed.

Step 4:  The household with the lowest weeklong trash accumulation will receive the honor of being Manchester-by-the-Sea’s 2024 Zero Waste Champion! Winners will be mentioned in the Cricket and local media.
