TAKE THE ZERO WASTE CHALLENGE!!

Did you know that the average person throws out approximately 5 pounds of trash a day? The Manchester-by-the-Sea Sustainability Committee and the Manchester Public Library invite you to join us in the Earth Day 2023 Zero Waste Challenge

 April 28-May 5 2023

Step 1:  Sign up below.

You will be given instructions on how to participate in the challenge. All Manchester families and individuals are eligible.

Step 2:  On Friday, April 28 start sorting your household waste into Compost, Recycle, Repurpose, and Reuse in your home. Put anything that can’t be reused, recycled or composted into an orange trash bag.

Step 3:  On Friday, May 5 at 3 PM bring your trash bag to the Sustainability Committee table at the library to have your trash weighed.

Step 4:  The household with the lowest weeklong trash accumulation will receive the honor of being Manchester-by-the-Sea’s 2023 Zero Waste Champion! Prizes include a 7 Seas Whale Watch gift certificate, and everyone gets a Captain Dusty coupon. Winners will be mentioned in the Cricket and local media.
